Salt & Swell

About Salt & Swell

A small studio drawing Europe's coast, one shoreline at a time.

Salt & Swell is a coastal print studio. The work begins with a simple pull: the feeling of a place on the water that stays with you long after you have driven inland. We try to hold onto that feeling by turning shorelines into art you can live with. Surf-spot line charts, headland-to-headland coastlines, bathymetric depth rings and quiet harbour plans, all drawn from the real geography of Europe's coast.

Every design starts from actual charts and coastal survey data, not from a stock template. We study the shape of a bay, the run of a reef, the way a depth contour tightens as the seabed climbs toward the break. Then we redraw it in a calm, pared-back visual language: thin contour lines, breathing space, a palette borrowed from sea salt, aqua shallows and deep-water navy.

How we curate

We are selective on purpose. Rather than flooding a catalogue with every stretch of coast, we add places we find worth returning to: named surf breaks, sheltered bays, working harbours and long open coastlines with a character of their own. A location earns a spot when the geography reads well as a drawing and when it means something to the people who know that water.

What we make

Each piece is produced as a made-to-order fine-art print through our European print partner, so a print is only made once someone chooses to give it a wall. That keeps the collection considered and avoids waste. The aim is never mass decor. It is a small, honest reminder of a coast you love, drawn with care and printed to last.
